A LETTER FROM MITCHELL FERGUSON

To all my fellow Surveyors,

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be retiring from the Lake County Engineer’s Office effective 1 May 2010.   The time has gone by so quickly and I still have a 5 year list of things to accomplish.  Yet, I feel that now the time is right to say adios amigos, and move on.

Unfortunately at this time, the Lake County Engineer does not intend to hire or fill the Chief Surveyor position in Lake County.  It may be permanently eliminated as is being done in many other counties and incorporated areas.  Obviously, I am disappointed not to see the position filled, but I also understand the present, difficult challenges the Commissioners are having with county funding.

Should you have any survey questions, problems or concerns with surveys or deeds, contact Bruce Landeg.  He will be assuming my responsibilities for awhile and will be managing the personnel at the GIS/ Tax Map Offices.   Also, Wesley Edwards and Michael West, survey technicians, will be available at times to assist you with research.

I plan to take it easy for a couple of months, and then I will regroup and see what next on my list.

Thank all of you for your support while I was here at Lake County.  I hope I did some good for you while I was here.

Respectfully,

Mitchell Ferguson, P.S.
Chief Surveyor
